News Catch-up

I haven't had much time to blog since returning to work so here's a quick round-up of some of the week's news:

• Pete Postlethwaite, the great Oscar-nominated British actor passed away at 64 after a lengthy illness (cancer, I believe). Key films to check out: The Usual Suspects, In the Name of the Father. Most recently seen in The Town and Inception. Spielberg once called him "the best actor in the world". Rest easy Pete, too young, too young...
  
• Also RIP Anne Francis, star of sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet. She was 80.
  
• Happy Birthday to Hayao Miyazaki and Nicolas Cage!
• Quentin Tarantino shares his Top 20 Films of 2010 to the world, crowns Toy Story 3 as his number 1. It's a bit of a weird list as expected, in the sense that for a few of his picks, you'll be going "whaaaat, QT liked that??". He also regrets leaving Sofia Coppola's Somewhere off the list.
• Robert Pattinson and David Cronenberg team-up??
• Dawson's Creek's James Van Der Beek launches his own self-spoofing meme website. Some funny gifs in there...
  
• Monsters director Gareth Edwards is set to helm new Godzilla movie.
